Joining a team

Joining a team

How to accept an invitation, what you get as a member, and how the shared budget works. · Optional

Read this if someone invited you to their team. If you're the one running the team, see Managing your team instead.

The invitation email

When an owner or admin invites you, you get an email with the subject "You're invited to join <Team Name> on VibeMap", telling you which team, who invited you, and a big Accept invitation button.

Click the button. If your email client strips the link, copy the URL beneath it and paste it into your browser.

Accepting the invitation

The link opens vibemap.ai/invitations/<token>:

  1. If you're not signed in, VibeMap sends you to log in first (sign up if you don't have an account), then returns you to the invitation page.
  2. If you're signed in, you see an Accept invitation confirmation card — click it.

That's it. You're now a member and you're redirected to the team's settings page.

⚠️ Watch out: The invitation is tied to the exact email it was sent to. If your VibeMap account uses a different email, you can't accept from it — sign in (or sign up) with the invited email, or ask the inviter to re-send to your preferred address.

Time limit

Invitations expire 7 days after they're sent. If the link says "Invitation has expired", ask the inviter to send a new one — the old link is permanently dead. The expiry is a security measure so a forwarded or leaked link can't be used months later.

What you get as a member

  • All team projects appear in the team workspace at /team/<slug>.
  • Full editing — the same generation features (personas, features, stories, pages, schema, files, agent chat) as any teammate.
  • Premium models — the team plan's models, including Claude 4 Sonnet at the Team tier and Claude 4 Opus on Enterprise.
  • Your personal projects stay yours — joining a team never affects them.

How the shared budget works

When you generate on a team project, tokens come from the team's single shared monthly pool — not your own account:

  • Your personal plan doesn't matter for team projects. You can be on Free and still run the full pipeline on a team project. Joining never costs you anything and never touches your personal allowance.
  • One pool, shared by everyone. Team includes 18M tokens/month (15M + 3M premium); Enterprise 48M (40M + 8M). If teammates have used most of it, less is left for you.
  • When the pool runs out, generation pauses for the whole team until the owner upgrades or the cycle renews. You can still read and edit everything — only new AI generations pause.
  • Personal projects are separate. Anything at /home still uses your own personal plan's budget.

Roles you might have

The inviter picked a role for you:

  • Member — read and edit team projects. Can't invite, change roles, or touch billing.
  • Admin — everything a member can, plus invite/remove members, change roles, and manage billing.

Need a different role? Ask the owner or an admin to change it in Team settings → Members.

Leaving a team

  1. Open /team/<slug>/settings.
  2. In the Members card, find your own name.
  3. Click Leave.

You're removed immediately and lose access to the team's projects; your personal projects are unaffected. (Owners can't leave — they must transfer ownership or delete the team first.)

⚡ Power-user hints

  • Match the email exactly. The single most common failed accept is signing up with a different address than the invite went to. Use the invited email.
  • Keep two contexts straight. /team/<slug> spends the team pool; /home spends your personal budget. They never cross-charge.

↔ The traditional way

Being added to a project normally means an admin provisions you a seat, shares a folder, and sets permissions by hand. Here a single email link makes you a full editor on a role, drawing from a shared budget — no per-tool setup on your side.
